Publications
The ILSI Europe Risk Assessment of Chemicals in Food Task Force initiated a 3-year European Commission Concerted Action "Food Safety in Europe (FOSIE): Risk Assessment of Chemicals in Food and Diet" which started in January 2000. Six critical review papers have been prepared in the fields of hazard identification, hazard characterisation and exposure assessment. Each paper addresses, for the various food categories, current methods, reliability and limitations, identification of knowledge gaps and research needs. These papers have been published together in Food and Chemical Toxicology (40/2-3; 2002, pp 137-424).
As a final step, the output of these papers have been integrated into a holistic appraisal of the scientific basis for the characterisation and quantification of risk in the food area. This final publication was published in Food and Chemical Toxicology (41/9; 2003, pp1213-1271).
